The Challenge

“Maureen” first got in touch with Advanced Wall Protection in April, reaching out over WhatsApp about a persistent problem in her Etwall cottage: recurring damp and mould that she’d been struggling to get on top of. The client sent through several photos of the affected areas straight away, which gave our team enough to put together a rough price for the works. The client had been advised that rendering the cottage could help, and wanted a proper plan to fix the problem for good rather than a quick fix.

Alongside the cottage, the adjoining garage walls also needed rendering, giving the whole property a consistent, weatherproof finish.

The Site Survey

Following the initial WhatsApp enquiry and rough price, one of our surveyors carried out a full site survey to scope the job accurately. With the walls properly measured and inspected in person, we put together a detailed, itemised quotation covering rendering materials and labour, scaffolding, and waste removal — with no hidden extras.

The client reviewed the options and confirmed she was happy to proceed, and the project was booked in to start in August.

Investigating the Cause

Before any rendering work began, we made sure the cause of the damp and mould was properly understood rather than just covered over. Once scaffolding was erected in August, our on-site team carried out a thorough inspection of the affected elevations, using the full access the scaffold provided to examine the walls closely and identify the likely source of the problem.

Step 01

Initial enquiry (April)

The client got in touch over WhatsApp about her ongoing damp and mould problem, sending through photos of the affected areas so our team could put together a rough price.
