780 sqm Multi-Storey External Wall Rendering Project

Silicone Render with Fire Safety Compliance

Project Type: Multi-storey residential building
Total Area Rendered: 780 sqm
Render System: High-performance silicone render
Additional Works: Fireproof insulation repairs, scaffolding, balcony & bay window waterproofing
Location: UK

Project Overview

We recently completed a 780 square metre external wall rendering project on a multi-storey residential building in the UK. The works involved the installation of a premium silicone render system, combined with fire-resistant insulation repairs, professional scaffolding, and specialist waterproofing.

Due to the size and complexity of the building, the project required detailed planning, accurate measurement, and strict adherence to UK Building Regulations, particularly in relation to fire safety and multi-storey compliance.

Scope of Works

Rendering was carried out across three upper floors of the building, covering the front, side, and rear elevations. The ground floor was excluded as it consisted of exposed brickwork and was not included in the original specification.

During the site survey, our team identified 15 gables that were not shown on the original architectural drawings. These were fully measured and incorporated into the project scope to ensure consistent coverage and a uniform finish across the entire property. The total rendered area was calculated at approximately 780 square metres, qualifying the project for our large-area pricing structure.

Silicone Render System

A reinforced basecoat with embedded fibreglass mesh was applied across all rendered surfaces to provide strength and crack resistance. This was finished with a high-performance silicone render topcoat offering excellent weather resistance, high breathability, strong protection against algae growth, and long-term durability with minimal maintenance.

This render system is particularly well suited to multi-storey residential buildings exposed to the UK climate.

Fireproof Insulation and Safety Compliance

Fire safety was a key priority for this project. Approximately 50 square metres of targeted fireproof insulation repairs were completed using non-combustible materials, along with the installation of fire-rated cement boards. These works ensured full compliance with current UK fire safety and building regulations.

Additional Works

The project also included full perimeter scaffolding supply and installation, balcony waterproofing using latex and lead systems, and the installation of lead flashing around bay windows to prevent water ingress and long-term moisture damage.

Project Results

The completed works significantly improved the building’s appearance, weather protection, fire safety compliance, and long-term performance. The property now benefits from a modern, low-maintenance silicone render finish with an expected lifespan of 25–30 years or more.
