What External Wall Rendering Involves
External wall rendering is the process of applying a protective coating directly onto the outer surface of a building. It seals the wall against weather and moisture, covers uneven or ageing brickwork, and gives the property a clean, uniform appearance.
For properties with solid walls, rendering is often combined with an external wall insulation (EWI) system. Insulation boards are fixed to the wall first, with the render applied on top. This improves the thermal performance of the building and can reduce heat loss over time.
